#78

I pierced my tongue 3 days before my HS graduation, where I had to sing a duet with Sara Leder. My tongue was super swollen, but it went off without a hitch. I only had it for about 4 or 5 months and then took it out.

This was in 1995 and there was NO ONE in my town or vicinity with such a piercing. It was mostly noses and navels. My graduating class was 152 students. My friend, Tracie Strand, wanted to pierce her eyebrow (she had her nose done already). She was trying to get me to do it with her and I said "NO WAY!". I told her that I would never want a visible scar on my face or navel. So that's how I settled on the tongue. I don't know if I'd ever seen a tongue piercing, but I just came up with it one day while sitting in Mr. Vredenburg's Economics class. She and I sat next to each other on the front row. I'm sure we were supposed to be working on our career projects or something, but we weren't! Not only had no one in the school ever done such a thing, they couldn't believe that the good "Mormon girl," Kristy had done it!!! I still get asked by a few teachers when I visit the school if I still have it. DUH! I have 4 kids for heaven's sake!!! I do still have a scar, though.

I remember that whole ordeal with your peircing and your dad. I'm sure he reacted like my dad, gone through the roof! My dad said if we got anything other then one peircing in each ear he'd pull it out, didn't care if it hurt. Those Jones guys... Speaking of, is there going to be a Leland Jones reunion?
